How do my artist earnings work?

Society6 artists earn 10% of the retail price on all products except for Art Prints, Framed Prints and Canvas Prints. The retail price covers the cost of manufacturing, fulfillment and the artist share. Please see below for the full list of products and their prices.

Art prints, framed prints and canvas prints allow artists to set their own markup beyond the default 10%. The markup on these products can be adjusted anytime in the Artist Studio. Learn more about setting markups here.

Discounts & Promotions
For the products that allow markup control (art prints, framed prints and canvas prints), the markup is a percentage of the base price. If the base price changes due to a site promotion or discount, the artist share also changes. The calculation looks like this:

Base Price x (Markup %  x (1 - Discount %))  = Artist Share*

*Note: All prices are rounded up to the nearest $0.99 when displayed on the site. The difference in price will be included in your earnings.

For products that do not allow markup control, the artist share is calculated on the retail price and discounts or promotions do not affect the artist share. Earnings
For products sold on, artist earnings are paid in USD. For all products (except for Art Prints, Framed Prints and Canvas Prints) the artist share is calculated on the retail price in USD. For Art Prints, Framed Prints, and Canvas Prints, the markup percentage, however, is applied to the base price in Euros. Euros are then converted to USD for artist payment at the point of sale. Please note that the price displayed on our international sites include VAT.

Third Party Marketplace Earnings

For products sold on third party marketplaces such as Amazon, artists earn the same amount as they would on a sale from Society6. Any sales made through a third party are reflected in the Earnings section of your artist account.
