Updates to Society6 Artists Account - Effective October 3, 2025Updated 27 minutes ago

Artist, Design, and Product Updates

On 10/3/2025, Society6 shared important updates about changes to our artist community, design catalog, and product assortment as we continue our shift to a curated model. For helpful information regarding these changes, please see below. As always, you may reach out to our Support team here.

Artist Community Changes

Why is Society6 reducing the number of artists again?
Society6 began transitioning to a more curated, design-forward model earlier this year. As part of that ongoing transformation, we’ve continued to evaluate our brand strategy, customer demand, and the size of our artist community to ensure long-term sustainability. This next phase, beginning October 21, 2025, is focused on strengthening discoverability, highlighting design-forward work, and building a healthier creative ecosystem. Removal from the artist community is not a reflection of artistic talent, but part of a broader structural shift toward quality, focus, and visibility.

How was the decision made to reduce the artist community?
Decisions were made based on a combination of factors — including artist and customer engagement, overall market conditions, and the need to maintain a curated, cohesive collection that aligns with our brand direction. This process is grounded in Society6’s strategic priorities around quality, consistency, and sustainability, rather than an evaluation of individual artists or their creative work.

What happens to existing designs and earnings for accounts that are closing?
Artist Studio accounts that close on October 21, 2025 may have designs remain on society6.com for up to 5–7 business days. During that time, some designs may still be discoverable. If so, they will be available for purchase, and you will continue to earn from any sales. Final payment will then be issued in accordance with our normal schedule.

How can I access my earnings report?
Be sure to download your earnings report before October 21, 2025. After this date, you’ll need to rely on PayPal for all Society6 earnings information.

Can I appeal or reapply after account closure?
There is no appeals process at this time. Artists may reapply in the future, but approval cannot be guaranteed.

What happens to my personal data after my account closes?
After your account closes, Society6 will retain only the information necessary to meet legal, regulatory, and business requirements, and all data will be managed securely.

Design Updates

Why are some of my designs being removed?
As part of Society6’s move toward a more curated, design-forward experience, we’re prioritizing designs that show strong customer engagement, conversion, and alignment with our creative direction. Removing designs with very limited activity allows us to highlight stronger work, improve discoverability, and focus resources on the designs and artists with the greatest opportunity for visibility and growth.

How will I know which designs are being removed?
Design removals will happen automatically — no action is needed on your part. While we won’t provide a list of specific removals, your higher-performing and most relevant designs will remain available.

Can I continue to submit new designs to Artist Studio during this period of change?
Yes. The Artist Studio will remain open and available for design submissions.

Product Updates

Why is Society6 removing certain products?
We’re simplifying our assortment to focus on categories where customers are most engaged and designs perform best. This focus allows us to strengthen quality, improve discoverability, and direct more attention to the products that resonate most with customers — ultimately creating better earning opportunities for artists.

Which products are being removed?
Starting October 27, 2025, Society6 will no longer offer: all apparel (crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, zip hoodies, t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, socks, sweatpants), fanny packs, folding stools, outdoor floor cushions, picnic blankets, sling chairs, floor pillows, wall clocks, stickers, backpacks, and duffle bags.

What happens to my designs currently available on these products?
Once these products are removed, your designs will no longer be available for sale on them. However, they will remain available across all other active Society6 products, ensuring your work continues to reach customers where engagement and demand are strongest.

How will this affect my earnings?
The impact will depend on how much of your sales currently come from the discontinued products. While some artists may see a small change, these updates allow Society6 to focus on higher-performing categories, where customer interest — and therefore potential earnings — are strongest.

Will Society6 add new products in the future?
Yes. While some products are being retired now, we remain committed to evolving our assortment thoughtfully. Any new additions will be driven by customer demand and will reflect Society6’s curated, design-forward brand direction, ensuring new opportunities for artists whose work aligns with that vision.

Looking Ahead

Are there any changes to the royalty structure?
No. Our royalty structure remains unchanged. Artists will continue to earn from every sale according to our existing payout model.

Why should I continue investing in Society6 given these changes?
Our goal is to build a healthier, more sustainable platform where artists benefit from stronger visibility, higher engagement, and consistent performance. By focusing on the designs, products, and community that most resonate with customers, we’re creating a more curated and intentional environment — one that gives active artists greater attention and more meaningful opportunities for long-term success.
